The 28th of July and easa009 is in its 4th day.
All the participants have now arrived and the workshops are well and truly in full flow.
The final preparation for the event was exhausting, to say the least, but it all went swimmingly and there is a huge satisfaction seeing participants having a good time and knowing all the facilities are in place for them.
As helper my duties have now moved to the kitchen. Each day running the same general course:
6:30 get up
7:00 report to the kitchen and explain the duties to the participants that are on for that day
7:00 - 11:30 make about 500 sandwiches
12:00 lay out the lunch
then a break to check out what is going on on campus and lending help where needed
19:00 back to the kitchen for evening meal duty
19:00 - 22:00 serving food and cleaning
and, as in the case of last night
22:00 - 02:00 tending bar - so it seems my usual day job has lent me some transferable skills!
I write this to elucidate some of the behind the scenes work that goes into an event like this, I am just one a small army of dedicated helpers and organisers making easa009 tick over daily. Though it all looks like work for me, I’m sure its hard to feel too sympathetic given the photo attached to this entry.
As ever the bulk of the photos will be uploaded to easaHQ blog.
